Making Plans For Our America
One thing the Republicans are good at (besides making life miserable for regular Americans and crashing the economy) is putting together big plans of what sort of terrible shit they want to do if and when they gain power. There was Newt Gingrich’s Contract With America back during the Clinton administration and of course now they are hell bent on inflicting trump’s beloved Project 2025 on everyone.
The Democrats do not seem to operate that way. The main reason is because even when they do gain power, their agenda is usually set by the incompetence of the Republicans and the priorities are to fix all of the things the GOP fucked up in their 4-8 years. That usually means starting with rebuilding an economy that the Republicans completely nuked and then undoing countless problems caused by a wide variety of GOP policies. The gives them little time to aggressively pursue more ambitious changes.
Perhaps it is time for the Democrats to put together a list of things they want to do to repair and improve the country for ALL Americans and more importantly what they can do to reinforce the guardrails of our democracy and find ways to prevent billionaire GOP donors from ransacking the country like their latest private equity investment.
The fact is, this is OUR America, not some South African billionaire’s America. Not some Australian billionaire’s America. And certainly not some convicted felon and rapist’s America. It is OURS and it is our responsibility to not just fix it after the GOP breaks it again, but to rebuild it and find ways to prevent it from being easily broken again. With that in mind, we present a number of big and small ideas that the Democrats could pursue that should lead to vastly improving the lives of millions of Americans.
- Hold public officials to a higher standard and enforce their oaths
- Ban stock trading for ALL elected officials and Cabinet members
- Medicare/Medicaid Public Option
- Get tough on (WHITE COLLAR) Crime
- Implement federal right to abortion
- Codify Civil Rights for All Americans
- Expand the House of Representatives
- Offer statehood to DC and Puerto Rico
- Expand ALL levels of the Judiciary Branch
- Grapple with Greed - Make the rich pay their fair share in taxes

Over time we will write more details on each idea, and include new ideas that should be pursued, in hopes that voters and Democratic leaders might be willing to embrace and advance an agenda of improvement with the same sort of aggressiveness and sense of purpose as the GOP’s agenda of destruction.
